Your Expertise Is Needed!

Your Expertise Is Needed Even More Today

August 29, 2026

Ever thought about whether you are in control of your business or if your business is in control of you? That's where I am lately. I've been working on a new project and can't seem to get anywhere with it. I'm sure you have experienced the same thing. One day I realized this new project is not going to go anywhere until I clear out some space in my brain and in my schedule. I've decided to scale back on everything for about 8 weeks so I can make some progress. Sometimes we have to do less to do more. For the next 8 weeks I will be republishing previously published newsletter articles with some new notes added to assist in getting more done. I'll choose articles that are still relevant that many of you probably have not seen before. And if new ideas come up that I feel compelled to write about I'll add those in as a bonus issue. So on with my 8 week brain break!

Your Expertise Is Becoming More Important

Original published April 26, 2025
It’s true. Your expertise, your knowledge, and your experience are all becoming more important and more valuable.
I was reading Justin Welsh’s newsletter article on how basic content is dying- https://www.justinwelsh.me/newsletter/basic-content-is-dying.

I agree with this article. And I have an opinion on the topic as well.
We are being flooded with AI generated content to the extent that the content is now largely worthless. If everyone is posting all the same or similar content and no one is posting anything original or innovative, then there is a problem.

This is why your expertise and knowledge is more important now than ever before. We have an incredible opportunity to be original and innovative. We have the chance to be the ones who stand out from the monotonous crowd.

They Have Figured It Out

Here’s something you might not realize. People on social media have figured out how to spot an AI generated post. If you are using AI to respond to a comment, or to comment on a post, or to create a new post, it is likely going to be noticed. Not everyone will see it but many will. And it only takes one. I’m already seeing people being called out for using an AI automated post or response. Talk about damaging your credibility!
This topic has gained a lot of traction since I wrote this article more than a year ago. "AI slop" and creators replacing their actual creativity with AI output generated from clever prompts has become monotonous and annoying. What was once a new and exciting novelty is now looked down upon by a growing number of people. It's sad that a misuse of an amazing technology has led to a backlash. But then that's also your opportunity.

The Advantage

Here’s how this situation can actually give you an advantage. AI cannot go stand on a stage and speak about what is in your mind. It can fake a video or an audio podcast of you speaking. But there is always a tell tale sign that it’s fake. Most people can spot the genuine article. Be the genuine article.

Here’s my take on the difference and why you are more valuable.

AI – provides a summation of known facts.

Humans – provide observations, creativity, and experiences.

The human attributes are financially worth more to your ideal customers. Entrepreneurs in all types of businesses have a huge opportunity to profit from the situation. I’m not bashing AI. I’m bashing the misuse of AI. There are some entrepreneurs who are just lazy enough or un-original enough to let AI do all the work for them rather than using it to assist them to do more of their own work.

It Really Is All About You

Don’t sell yourself short. Your customers value you. Not your AI prowess. When all the up front content comes from your prompt writing abilities and then you meet the client in person, what happens? Will you sound different than your content? Will you remember what your content said if you didn’t write it?

This is meant as a cheerleading session for you, your mind, and your expertise. It is valuable. It is unique. Nobody else has your memories, experiences, or creativity. Don’t dilute it.

Things I like to use AI for:

Ideas for ad copy

Research (although not completely reliable)

Assisting with video and audio editing

Bookkeeping (coming soon) It's now in place.

I'm sure I'll find more uses. Any suggestions? I'd love to hear what you use AI for. Send me an email!

What They Are Not Telling You... August 21, 2026 And What You Need To Know Whether you are buying commercial real estate or buying a business you have to be careful. I’m sure some of you’re are thinking “Ok Captain Obvious, tell me something I don’t know.” Well here it is. When buying real estate, disclosure from the seller and their agents is mandatory. It’s the law. At least it is in my state. If there’s a problem with the property that the seller or their agent is aware of it must be...

The Square Root Of 4 August 14, 2026 What is the square root of 4? Most people get that answer wrong. What was your answer? 2? That’s the wrong answer. On a math test that answer would be counted as wrong. It is true that 2 is the square root of 4 but it’s not the only square root of 4. The correct answer is 2 and -2, because (-2) X (-2) is also 4. So why the math lesson in square roots? It’s actually not about the math. It’s about perception, awareness, and observation. The Accepted...

How Do I Decide? August 7, 2026 #6 From “The Things I’ve learned In Business” series. This is a question that comes up any time we are looking at investing in real estate, buying a business or maybe making a career change. There are those who make the decision seemingly in an instant. And then there are those who never actually decide. They just analyze and contemplate. And there is the vast territory of everything in between. It’s a complete spectrum of how people make potentially life...
