The World's Greatest Tool

The World's Greatest Tool

October 3, 2026

If you're a new subscriber Welcome! What you are reading today is a revisit to a previous article. This is week 6 of my 8 week break from writing so I can complete a new project I'm working on and hopefully give my brain a break so this newsletter doesn't become too stale. The following is an article from June 1, 2024.

Money Is The Greatest Tool Ever Created

Why? Because with it you can acquire all other tools. With it you can acquire freedom and survival.

Without it you must rely on others for survival. Your freedom will be limited. So the question becomes how do we get more of it. Is there anything we can do to make money flow to us on a regular basis?

Our money mindset is the beginning of higher income. Throughout our lives well meaning parents, relatives, teachers and friends have given us a twisted view of money. Beginning with the statement “The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.” While the statement may be true they neglected to give us the truth about why the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

Two Mindsets
The truth is this. The rich and the poor have two different mindsets. The rich, or more accurately the wealthy (there is a difference) have an entrepreneurial/investor mindset. Basically it’s more of a cashflow mindset. Their thought process is to create ways to make money flow to them on a regular basis.

They will buy or start businesses that produce cashflow. They buy real estate that produces cashflow. Sometimes they combine the two. They learn the ins and outs of operating in that space and of making the best use of their resources. By owning those assets they can produce momentum in their finances and continually increase their income.

Personal Development
They invest in themselves. They seek out coaches and mentors and invest in training. This personal development is the cornerstone of a successful entrepreneur and of the wealthy.

Adding Value
They add value to others. I’m sure you’ve heard this before. Adding value to others is an absolute necessity to the success of any business and to the success of any leader. Why would anyone pay you money if you don’t add value to their lives? Why would they want you as a leader?

Employee Mindset
Poor people or more accurately the non-wealthy and non-rich people have been taught to have an employee mindset. It’s that old get a job, work hard and retire mindset. Sometimes even that doesn’t work. For many various reasons, some people just don't have a mindset conducive to improvement. It's a do what you can to get by mindset.

The idea here is to get a paycheck, pay the bills, buy a house, get a new car every two or three years and try to save some money. Even some of these people can be considered rich. They might have a job that pays them a multiple 6 figure income. Most people consider a $400,000 a year earner to be rich and there are those that earn that much and more in a job.

But that does not mean they are wealthy. They can actually be poor. If their job ended tomorrow they would be broke very quickly. Why do you see $800k homes on the foreclosure list? Because someone lost their job and had no wealthy attributes. No cash flowing assets, no financial planning, no investing. Just a high paying job with a lot of debt. You can live paycheck to paycheck no matter what the size of the paycheck.

The Mindset Shift
On the other hand I have seen poor people who have changed their mindset, started down a road of personal development and started investing in real estate or started a business. They start small, and grow their way into wealth.

What does this have to do with money being the greatest tool? All tools have a purpose. If you use those tools for the purpose they were intended everyone benefits, including the tool. If the tool is misused, neglected, or left sitting in the tool box in your garage for years it breaks or just gets rusty to the point of being worthless.

The same is true of money. It needs to be used for the purpose it was intended. Take care of it. We should all try to use less of it than what we make(easier said than done sometimes). Money does no good sitting in the bank. Make it grow and use that to employ other people. We can use it to create jobs, incomes, and economic growth for your family and community. Treat your money well and it will take care of you.

Money goes where it’s welcome and it stays where it’s treated best.
