Your Unknown Impact

The Unknown Impact

June 19, 2026

When I sit down to write this newsletter or record a podcast I sometimes wonder if anyone really cares about what I’m saying. I guess anyone who creates any kind of content tends to ask themselves that same question. Does this really matter to anyone? This is my 140th issue of the newsletter and I just recorded my podcast episode 145. My hope is that somewhere out there is one person who saw something in what I said that made some kind of a difference in their life. So that’s what led me to write about the Unknown Impact.

In the late 1980’s (when I was 3 years old) I got to know my future ex wife’s uncle. He was a very wealthy real estate investor and what I would call a Wheeler Dealer. If you ever get a chance to see it, there’s a movie of that title made in 1963 starring James Garner and Lee Remick. It was about a deal maker from Texas who had 3 Texas oil buddies that followed him around to get in on the outrageous deals he made. My ex wife’s uncle was straight out of that movie. And I’m going to call him RJ because it’s easier. I had the opportunity to spend a few days with him. I learned some very important lessons about real estate and making deals during those few days. More than I could have ever learned in school.

When I think of thinking big, he comes to mind. He thought big, showed no fear, and never hesitated when it came to making money. I have some fascinating stories about him and his deals but that’s a topic for another story. This is about making an impact. He knew I was learning quite a lot from him but I doubt he had any idea of the impact he actually had on me. Mostly because that impact didn’t show itself until years later when I went back to real estate as a broker and investor.

You might be wondering yourself if what you do has made an impact on anyone. It has. You make an Unknown Impact. Even the little things we do can have a lasting and profound impact on the lives we touch. You might never hear about it. You may never know how your business made a difference in someone’s life. The ripple effect you start can have an unseen and lasting affect on many lives. Your Unknown Impact might cause someone to keep doing what they’re doing or cause them to completely remake their lives. Who knows?

So I keep writing these newsletter articles and recording podcast episodes. Sometimes it's just for the enjoyment of the process. Sometimes it's because I have something to say that I think will be helpful to you in your businesses and lives. That’s why the newsletter was started- To share ideas and tools to build momentum in your business and life.

What kind of impact have you made through your business or your job that you might not think about or realize? Think about it. You might be surprised.

Thanks to all our subscribers and welcome to the new subscribers that joined this week! I hope you enjoy it. Feel free to reply with your thoughts.

A Change Of Plans June 12, 2026 Don't forget you can read past articles by Clicking Here A Change Of Plans Long term planning is obsolete. Or maybe I should say how we define Long Term is no longer accurate. As business owners and entrepreneurs planning is a way of life. I’ve always been a big fan of having a plan. Whenever I invested in real estate I always had a plan for what I would do with it(renovations, tenants, lease, etc.), how long I would keep it, and when I would sell and for how...

Consistency Creates Momentum June 6, 2026 It’s amazing how many times I have let this lesson go by without acting on it. I’m sure there are a lot of business owners out there who have done the same thing. At least I like to think I’m not the only one. I’m sure you know how it goes. We start with the intention of taking the necessary action every day and being consistent and persistent, because that’s how momentum builds. But something happens and we get distracted and consistent turns into...

Outsourcing Creating To One Of Our Creations May 29, 2026 I was reading one of my favorite newsletters today called Oberthinking by Justin Oberman. The article was called “How I use AI To Think Better”. It caught my attention because I’ve been using AI a lot lately to help with the development of a certification program. One of the points he made had to do with using AI to write. Lately I’ve been trying to put into words how AI is affecting people and the way we think and create. A Result I...
