Your Expertise Is Becoming More Important
April 26, 2025
It’s true. Your expertise, your knowledge, and your experience are all becoming more important and more valuable. I was reading Justin Welsh’s newsletter article on how basic content is dying (https://www.justinwelsh.me/newsletter/basic-content-is-dying). I agree with this article. And I have an opinion on the topic as well.
We are being flooded with AI generated content to the extent that the content is now largely worthless. If everyone is posting all the same or similar content and no one is posting anything original or innovative, then there is a problem.
This is why your expertise and knowledge is more important now than ever before. We have an incredible opportunity to be original and innovative. We have the chance to be the ones who stand out from the monotonous crowd.
They Have Figured It Out
Here’s something you might not realize. People on social media have figured out how to spot an AI generated post. If you are using AI to respond to a comment, or to comment on a post, or to create a new post, it is likely going to be noticed. Not everyone will see it but many will. And it only takes one. I’m already seeing people being called out for using an AI automated post or response. Talk about damaging your credibility!
The Advantage
Here’s how this situation can actually give you an advantage. AI cannot go stand on a stage and speak about what is in your mind. It can fake a video or an audio podcast of you speaking. But there is always a tell tale sign that it’s fake. Most people can spot the genuine article. Be the genuine article.
Here’s my take on the difference and why you are more valuable.
AI – provides a summation of known facts.
Humans – provide observations, creativity, and experiences.
The human attributes are financially worth more to your ideal customers. Entrepreneurs in all types of businesses have a huge opportunity to profit from the situation. I’m not bashing AI. I’m bashing the misuse of AI. There are some entrepreneurs who are just lazy enough or un-original enough to let AI do all the work for them rather than using it to assist them to do more of their own work.
It Really Is All About You
Don’t sell yourself short. Your customers value you. Not your AI prowess. When all the up front content comes from your prompt writing abilities and then you meet the client in person, what happens? Will you sound different than your content? Will you remember what your content said if you didn’t write it?
This is meant as a cheerleading session for you, your mind, and your expertise. It is valuable. It is unique. Nobody else has your memories, experiences, or creativity. Don’t dilute it.
Things I like to use AI for:
Ideas for ad copy
Research (although not completely reliable)
Assisting with video and audio editing
Bookkeeping (coming soon)
I'm sure I'll find more uses. Any suggestions? I'd love to hear what you use AI for. Send me an email!
Welcome and thank you to all our new subscribers this week! I hope you enjoy the newsletter!
