2 Things You Need To Know To Be Successful

YouTube and social media are filled with advice on how to get rich, how to become successful and how to become the next billionaire. If you want to know how to be successful at just about anything, according to the “experts”, you can find it on YouTube. Here comes the big but.

But, most of these experts leave out this most basic thing. These 2 simple things you need to know to be successful at anything. The amazing thing is these two items are of your own design. It’s your decision as to what they are.

It's Your Decision

But you must decide what they are and you must decide to take the action necessary to get these two things. And here they are.

The 2 things you need to know are:

Where are you now?

and

Where are you going?

I know that sounds ridiculously simple. And it is. It might even be a little disappointing. Most people expect some amazing business secret. But it’s not a secret at all. However, you would be amazed at how many entrepreneurs don’t realize that these two things are absolutely necessary to have a successful business.

It took me a long time before I realized it and I occasionally forget to keep this in mind when I am planning. Even though I never leave my house to go somewhere, no matter how long or short the trip, without knowing the exact answer to those two questions.

Can you imagine being a pilot and just getting into your airplane and taking off on a cross country trip without knowing where you’re going to land? That would be terrifying! Not to mention stupid. If you’ve ever flown a small plane and gotten lost and couldn’t find your airport you know why that would be terrifying (yes, I have done that).

Simple Answers Are The Best Answers

Sometimes what we think are complex questions and problems have incredibly simple answers. The answer to the question “What does it take to be successful” is simple. Before anything else you have to know the answer to the two questions. Where are you now? And where are you going?

Once you know those two answers you can work out the path to the destination. Any destination. Of course that’s just the beginning and there is a lot more to do. But, once you know the beginning and end points, the journey to get there becomes much easier.
